Nancy Overton is a writer, artist and homemaker. The author of many how-to craft books, her experience in writing step-by-step instructions came in handy while organizing all the information contained in A Checklist: Making a Family Plan for Emergencies. Nancy is a collage artist. You can find her posters on the web. Google "Nancy Overton posters".
Nancy illustrated A Checklist with the help of her husband Chuck, who is responsible for all the drawings of the little boy. See Chuck's oil paintings at www.chuckostudios.com
Nancy, Chuck and their Springer Spaniel, Sara live in the fire-prone hills of Oakland, California just above the Hayward Fault.
Being keen proponents of preparing for emergencies, both Nancy and Chuck are graduates of the Oakland Emergency Services program CORE (Citizens of Oakland Respond to Emergencies) www.oaklandcore.org. They have studied Home and Family Preparedness, Neighborhood Preparedness and Emergency Hands-on Training. Nancy and Chuck have also practiced Disaster First Aid with the fire fighters of the City of Oakland. They are proud to wear their green vests to neighborhood gatherings to encourage others in the community to become CORE trained. They hope to inspire others, too, to prepare for emergency and get a disaster preparedness plan in place.
